Back Graphics Application Instructions

  • All surfaces must be considered dirty and must be cleaned prior to the application of vinyl. (Cleaners such as Windex are acceptable; however, we recommend a 2 to 1 mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol.) Wipe the surface dry with a clean, lint free cloth.
  • Air and surface temperature must be above 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the application of the Vinyl.
  • Apply the vinyl using the following steps:
Note: It is recommended that a novice installer have a helper present on the following steps. It is not a requirement however it will help insure a quality installation.
  1. Position your BackGraphics decal to your liking over the window making sure the decal is centered and aligned with the window surface. Hold down with masking tape if necessary.

  2. Peel back the liner from one half of the graphic and carefully start squeegeeing it down from the center out. Using our OSHEE felt squeegee or other soft material squeegee will help prevent scratching your vinyl.

  3. Use steady overlapping strokes and firm pressure to ensure a good bond. Repeat for the other half of the graphic.

  4. Go over the entire decal graphic again using the squeegee and pressing well around all edges of the window trim.

  5. Trim the graphic along the edges of the window molding using a sharp knife or razor. We recommend leaving a small space of about 1/8” away from the rubber window seal in order to promote optimal adhesion and life. Trim all the way around and peel away the excess vinyl. Note: Use Extra Care not to cut the rubber window molding or to scratch the window surface.

  6. Re-squeegee the edges of the vinyl outwards towards the window molding to ensure good adhesion.
